Centre of Excellence (Feb 2015)
Centre of Excellence in Temporary Works Engineering
The Temporary Works Forum (TWf) is seeking expressions of interest to provide a UK-based Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Temporary Works Engineering. The purpose will be to:
a) research into industry issues to find practical solutions;
b) provide expert advice and consultation;
c) provide CPD for the industry; and
d) provide education to first degree level.
The TWf regards this as a partnering opportunity and seeks an organisation which shares its aims, which are: the advancement of education; the saving of lives; the advancement of science; and the avoidance of disasters.
Providers and/or Co-Sponsors
Providers and Co-sponsors were invited to express an interest by 5th March 2015. A subsequent 'statement of intent' was to be submitted by 20th March 2015. Six proposals were received.
Co-Sponsors
Sponsors wishing to a greater or lesser role in the management of the CoE must be organisations that the TWf’s aims, which are: (a) the advancement of education; (b) the saving of lives; (c) the advancement of science; and (d) the avoidance of disasters.
Update (June 2015)
Following the TWf AGM and Open Meeting on 3.6.15 the Directors are progressing a proposal to establish a Centre of Excellence. Co-sponsors are invited still.
